Meet Our Rector
Mother Kathleen
Kingslight has served as the Rector of St. Barnabas since 1997. She
has oversight for the Christian Formation of the parish including education
for youth three years old through high school; youth events; adult
education; Baptismal; Confirmation; marriage preparation, Bible studies,
spiritual direction and other activities.
She
was ordained as a deacon in 1993 and as a priest in 1994. She was the
former Associate Rector at St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Richland,
Michigan. She has worked in parishes of varying liturgical practices
from the rural mountains of New Mexico, the big cities of Texas, to the
white collar suburbs of Michigan, among the homeless, with prisoners, the
sick, abused, addicts, the dying and with those of many different
denominational and faith traditions.
“Ours is an approachable
God,” she says. “Holy Scripture shows us that our God works in the world
through human beings, and has promised us in Christ Jesus to be with us
always.”
Mother Kathleen was also
involved in Kingslight Music, a nation-wide ministry of preaching, teaching
and music including workshops in music for the small church, programs for
youth, sermons in song, concerts and conferences.
